Crews have reached 90 percent containment on a wildfire in Six Mile Canyon between Dayton and Virginia City, according to Sierra Front.

The Six Mile Fire has burned approximately 185 acres as of 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20.

Six Mile Canyon Rd. is back open after being closed Friday at the Storey/Lyon county line due to the potential of spread. However, officials still recommend motorists use alternative routes to avoid interfering with fire crews on the scene.

Storey County officials say no structures are threatened.

According to Central Lyon County Fire Chief, Rich Harvey, the fire is burning on the north side of the canyon and winds are pushing the flames in the northeast direction.

Officials say Storey County Fire, Nevada Forestry and the Bureau of Land Management air and ground resources are responding.

The fire will be staffed overnight into Saturday.
