Press release from Redwood National and State Parks:
Due to an easing of conditions, from extreme fire danger to very high fire danger, backcountry camping areas within Redwood National Park are reopened to camping. To protect public safety, open fires still may not be used anywhere within the boundary of the National Park, including at backcountry camping areas. Fires are also prohibited in day use areas anywhere within Redwood National Park.
Elk Prairie and Gold Bluffs Beach campgrounds in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, Mill Creek campground in Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park, and Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park campground are open. Fires are permitted only in established fire rings and grills within the state park campgrounds.
With active fires still affecting much of northern California and Oregon, many US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and California and Oregon state lands have instituted camping and fire restrictions. Visitors are advised to check current road conditions and campground availability in areas outside the park before traveling to the area.
