Bishkek, Feb. 16, 2018. / Kabar /. Rector of Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almaz Nasyrov took part in the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation and a joint meeting of the Forum for Security Co-operation and Permanent Council in Vienna, Austria.

Nasyrov told about how the institute he leads is working to promote security sector reform in the Kyrgyz Republic in an inclusive way.

In particular, Mr. Nasyrov said: "Our Academy works in conjunction with the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek to create an open platform for discussing and studying issues related to security sector reform in the Kyrgyz Republic."

Thus, in 2017, the Academy, together with the OSCE Programme Office, organized a series of events that helped to define and promote the national interests of the Kyrgyz Republic in the framework of this reform.

"Many of these efforts, supported by the international community in the Kyrgyz Republic, are often a response to the specific needs and requests of government agencies. We could make an even greater contribution through additional expert support for the reform of the security sector management included in the country's strategic documents as the National Strategy for Sustainable Development until 2040," Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek Ambassador Pierre von Arks mentioned in his speech.

In recent years, the management of the security sector in Kyrgyzstan has undergone significant transformations, which was the government's response to public concerns, as well as in the ongoing efforts by the government to improve security in the country.

The OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek has been accompanying and supporting the reform process from the very beginning, and Academy of Public Administration is one of the closest and most active partners in this context. The reform has already gained high momentum, especially through the unification of military and non-military aspects of security.
