A bus slammed into a tricycle in Digos City in the southern Philippines Davao del Sur province on Wednesday, killing six people, local police said.
The accident happened as a bus was cruising along the Pan-Philippine highway near the village of Cogon, Digos City when it hit the pedicab crossing a junction around 6:00 a.m. local time, said Senior Superintendent Alan Manibog, provincial police chief.
The tricycle driver and four of his passengers, including three children, died on the spot, police said, adding the sixth victim died at the hospital.
Initial police investigation showed the bus was entering a terminal in Digos City when it hit the tricycle.
All the passengers and crew of the bus were safe, according to the police.
The driver of the bus is now detained while an investigation is underway, police added.
